Glutathione is the body’s most ample natural antioxidant. It enhances your immune system and protects your vision, it prevents the accumulation of oxidized fats that may aid in atherosclerosis, and helps in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy.
It is a compound classified as a tripeptide(consisting of three amino acids): cysteine, glycine and glutamic acid
The liver, intestinal tract, especially the lungs, are organs where Glutathione can mainly be found. The body harvests and collects the largest amounts of GSH in the liver, where it is used to detoxify damaging and destructive compounds so that they can be excreted from the body through the bile.
Glutathione also plays to have an anti-aging benefit on the body. GSH levels decrease with age, and glutathione deficiency has been shown to leave the body defenseless to damage by free-radicals, thus hastening oxidation (wearing down) of the body.
The lack of Glutathione can have a destructive effect on the nervous system, causing such symptoms as tremors, lack of balance and coordination, and mental illness.
Almost all fruits and vegetables provide good source of Glutathione.
Although the body yields Glutathione, it can be beneficial to consume extra Glutathione through the diet and supplementation
